In the Community

I was honored to be the keynote speaker for the PTK International College Honors Society regional conference at Pima Community College in March. It is always a pleasure being able to meet incredible faculty and engaged, passionate students! I am a big proponent of public education and our indispensable community college system. I hope to be back soon!

What a weekend! I got to table at The Festival of Books which is the third largest book festival in the United States! I am on the executive board of F*ST! Female* Storytellers, a nonprofit storytelling organization whose mission is to platform the voices and stories of women and female identified individuals. We recently published our second anthology, the Best of F*ST! Volume 2, and it was an honor to represent the book and the forty-four storytellers who now get to be published authors. If you’re in Southern Arizona and you’ve never attended Festival of Books, try to catch it next time it comes around!

I was beyond thrilled to be a part of Arizona Public Media/NPR’s special storytelling event “Voices of 2024.” For months I worked with eight recent high school graduates and helped them tell their stories about the fear, isolation and uncertainty they faced while growing up in an age of active shooter drills and Covid 19. It is always a pleasure to work with two time Emmy award winning producer Mark McLemore of Arizona Spotlight and the incomparable Art Almquist. Hosting this show and getting to work alongside these incredibly brave, talented young people is something I will never forget!
